Every builder carries a story — of memory, migration, and the meaning of land. Share yours, and read the voices shaping this movement.

I am the Founder
I grew up watching communities that had everything — culture, labor, knowledge, land — and somehow owned nothing. I remember the moment it became undeniable. I was driving through South Los Angeles one evening after helping a family through our nonprofit work. Block after block — businesses, apartments, churches, storefronts. The neighborhood was changing fast. Buildings that had housed Black families for generations were being bought, renovated, and priced beyond the reach of the very people who built the culture there. The people had the labor. The people had the creativity. The people had the history. But not the ground. And that has to change. Not in forty years. Now. Sovereign Soil is my answer to that question. Not a real estate fund. Not an NGO. Not another "empowerment initiative" that writes a check and disappears. This is a land-backed, collectively owned system — agriculture, housing, infrastructure, and culture, woven into one economic unit that belongs to the people inside it.
